What are the common inspections in mechanical machining?

What are the common inspections in mechanical Machining?

After machining, the machined parts must be inspected accordingly. When inspecting, we should not only know what the inspecting standard of mechanical machining is, but also what inspections are commonly used in mechanical machining.

1. teeth gauge

Dental gauge is used to experience the quality of threads. It is made according to national standards. There are external threads and internal threads. External threads can be inspected by the standard of screw and internal threads can be inspected by the standard of nut.

2. needle gauge

Needle gauge is a standard for inspecting inner holes. Generally, there are two, one is general gauge and the other is stop gauge. Like a metal rod, the general gauge must be able to be put into the hole, and the stop gauge must not be put in. Any mistake between the two means that the product size is not up to standard.

3. Vernier Caliper

Vernier caliper is a measuring tool for measuring length, inner and outer diameter and depth. The vernier caliper is composed of a master ruler and a sliding vernier attached to the master ruler. The main ruler is generally in millimeters, while the vernier has 10, 20 or 50 scales. According to the difference of scales, vernier calipers can be divided into ten scales, twenty scales and fifty scales. The vernier has 9 mm for 10 scales, 19 mm for 20 scales and 49 mm for 50 scales. The main ruler and vernier of a vernier caliper have two pairs of movable measuring claws. They are inner measuring claws and outer measuring claws. The inner measuring claws are usually used to measure the inner diameter, while the outer measuring claws are usually used to measure the length and outer diameter.

4. micrometer

Micrometer and vernier calipers are used to check external inspection, inner diameter and depth, but they are relatively single. Each specification must buy different micrometers, such as outer diameter micrometer, inner diameter micrometer, micrometer is more precise than vernier calipers, and can be up to 0.01 mm.

5. altimeter

Altimeter is used to measure the depth of the product, such as the size from one end to another. Altimeter is more accurate than vernier calipers and can be accurate to 0.001 mm.

The above five are commonly used inspection tools in mechanical machining. These inspection tools should be calibrated before they are used, so as to ensure the accuracy of machined parts.
