What is CNC machining?

What is CNC Machining?

CNC Machining refers to the machining with CNC machining tools, is a kind of mechanical processing, is a new processing technology. CNC machining refers to CNC machine programming controlled by NC machining language, usually G code. The CNC machining G code language tells the machining tool of the CNC machining machine which Cartesian position coordinates to use, and controls the feed speed and spindle speed of the tool, as well as the function of tool converter and coolant.

CNC machining technology has been widely popularized. Most machining workshops have the ability of CNC machining. The most common CNC machining methods in typical machining workshops are CNC Milling, CNC lathe and CNC EDM wire cutting. The tool for CNC milling is called CNC milling machine or CNC machining center. A lathe for CNC Turning is called CNC lathe center. CNC machining G code can be programmed manually, but the machine shop usually uses CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) software to automatically read the CAD (Computer Aided Design) file and generate the G code program to control the CNC machine tools.

CNC machining has the following advantages:

(1) CNC machining can reduce the number of tooling and make complicated parts without complicated tooling. If we want to change the shape and size of the parts, we only need to modify the parts machining program, which is suitable for the development and modification of new products.

(2) The machining quality of CNC machining is stable, the machining accuracy is high, the repeatability is high, and it is suitable for the machining requirements of the aircraft.

(3) The production efficiency of CNC machining is high under the condition of multi variety and small batch production. CNC machining can reduce the time of production preparation, machine tool adjustment and process inspection, and reduce the cutting time by using the best cutting quantity.

(4) CNC machining can process complex surfaces which are difficult to process by conventional methods, and even process parts that can not be observed.

The disadvantage of CNC machining is the high cost of machine tools and requires the high level of maintenance personnel.
